Galaxy S II - Samsung Hitting the iPhone in the Fanboy Pants

E-mail Print PDF

I'm an iPhone 4S guy, and I love Siri...But I am open minded and if I was going to recommend an Android phone you pretty much have to go with the Galaxy SII (short of going with any of the EVO offerings) - As the person in the commercial states, "This phone...is Amazing!"

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

E-mail Print PDF

I have been playing a variety of iOS/Android games with the recent rush of titles.  Oddly enough - A barometer I use for some of these games - My daughters. I had picked up Sonic Racing on release, actually...No, that's not true.  My 4 year old daughter sat next to me with her iPad (displaying the App Store) asking me "Daddy, I want this...it's my favorite" (Obligatory statement made when she wants something...*facepalm*).  She happened to have Sonic Racing on the screen and thankfully, has yet to remember my password causing an untold fortune to be spent on whatever she decides to download...

I picked up the title and let her start playing, all of the screen shots were made of her gameplay.  At first glance the game looks amazing with it's graphics, reminiscent of an N64/GameCube style of graphics for a Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing or perhaps some throwback to the Sonic Riders title.  The controls on the iPhone/iPad are fantastic when steering.  the response, with a little practice, is second nature.

Order and Chaos on Android

The only full 3D MMORPG available on the Android platform (you can also play on iOS) is our App of the Week. Order and Chaos pushes the boundaries of mobile gaming with an immersive game that plays like any MMO on your PC or Console.

Gameloft is offering the first 3 months free and only $0.99 cents per month of subscription, you save $1 if you get an additional 3 months.  Not too shabby when you consider it's a great way to play an MMO on the go.  Even if you do need a WiFi connection to play.  There are very specific phone models you can play with for Android and some gamers are having trouble getting support for the varied tablets out there; specifically Honeycomb from the reviews I have read.

Sprint Kyocera Echo

I listed this device for a moment on my profile with more of an "Oh Really?" feeling.  I wrote this as a response to a comment...I decided to just put up the mini-review - Which I originally didn't intend, it was just dropped on my lap.  I popped it open after I noticed what it was and I even saw it tonight on Fringe...nice coincidence...

This will be brief:

The Robot War...Wait...No, not Terminator's...Android

In my search for great new tech in the Tablet and Cell market which honestly is almost on the cutting edge to fully replacing PC's as we know them I was always caught between the top three developers Apple, Google/Android and Windows.  There are some great entries by other companies like Symbian, WebOS and PalmOS; there are many others most don't necessarily consider like "Bada" from Samsung, "MeeGo" and "Maemo" from Nokia.  I can go on and on but I decided to consider the top 2 in the market.  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_operating_system )

Apple and Android.
