Officially abbreviated PS2 is a sixth-generation video game console manufactured by Sony as part of the PlayStation series. Its development was announced in March 1999 and it was first released on March 4, 2000 in Japan. Its primary competitors were Sega's Dreamcast, Microsoft's Xbox, and Nintendo's GameCube.

The PS2 is the best-selling console of all time, having reached over 150 million units sold as of January 31, 2011. This milestone was reached 10 years and 11 months after the system was released in Japan on March 4, 2000. Further, Sony said it currently has 2015 titles available for the system and that 1.52 billion PS2 titles have been sold since launch. In late 2009, with developers creating new games and the console still selling steadily a decade after its original release, Sony stated that the life cycle of the PlayStation 2 will continue until demand ceases.

Random Gaming Session - Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick

Halloween is coming around again and with that of course comes a great time to play some old school horror titles. One I particularly love to pop into my console around this time of year is this one. Because I love getting me some sugar baby! This game is notoriously difficult but it's oh so much fun. A complete guilty pleasure, that for those who are fans of the Evil Dead series will never really get bored of blowing away deadites with their boomstick.

I'll warn you guys though the second zone has some annoying aspects to get through, it can break up families, relationships and auto-euthanise children. Happy hunting.

Random Gaming Session - BloodRayne

In keeping with the Vampire theme of the week, here is a great game to continue having some vampire based fun. BloodRayneI personally love this game (hate the Uwe Boll Film - even though Kristanna Loken was perfect for the role). It's hard to argue with a game that has a great storyline, amazingly hot vampire gal that loves to rip her enemies apart with 2 ridiculous blade weapons strapped to her arms. The series has a variety of titles to choose from.  BloodRayne was inspired by another title, Nocturne and has a healthy amount of material to read in the form of comics if you want to follow the storylines. There is a downloadable title on the PSN and XBL marketplaces that will be available on the 30th and 31st (respectively), titled BloodRayne: Betrayal that we talked about a month back.

Now that's a gaping hole...Kristanna Loken was great for the role, but the movie was horrible...

Random Gaming Session - Legacy of Kain: Defiance

Its interesting to see all the Vampire films coming out, this weekend we see one of my all time favorites from my childhood being remade (albeit, I'm not sure if it's remade well...we will have to wait for Stormraven's review).  With the recent trailers coming out for the 4th installment into the Underworld series, and with True Blood all on our minds.  I like to go back and play some good old school Vampire games.  Legacy of Kain (outside of Castlevania) is one of those games that stood out, from the PS1 titles to the Soul Reaver series. However Legacy of Kain holds a special spot for it's great gameplay, viciousness and bastardization of the original biblical concept of the Origins of Vampires. All that, and Kain is one bad Motha...

Feeding the Itch: Part III

While I have my comics neatly organized before me, Hellboy digitally.  I have my hands free to play Spawn: Armageddon, it was a toss up for me, to either pop in the XBOX version of Soul Calibur 2 to play as Spawn or this one, and I would rather play this one for now instead of lugging out an XBOX from storage...it is 3AM (at this point, and yes my body is still bitching...although I did relieve myself...I need some food...*PAUSE*).

...6 Minutes 23 seconds later...

This is one of those games that we got to enjoy during the PS2's hayday and for those of us that would watch Spawn on HBO, we needed more of a fix, this title gave it to us in strides.  Random Late Night Gaming Sessions are nice when you get to kill, kill, kill, Evil in the dark...

Random Gaming Session - Freedom Fighters

E-mail Print PDF

In the spirit of freedom, here is an old school title that I absolutely loved...The game had amazing play mechanics which felt a lot like a Diablo or Dungeon siege game, with 3rd person Shooter elements wrapped in solid graphics with an amazing storyline.  Lovers of the RetCon scenarios or films like Red Dawn will absolutely love this game.  It's a definite must have for anyone that has an itch for role playing inside of an invasion scenario where you are now the resistance.
