This Amazing Multi Award winning game blew the gaming world wide open when released in 1997, with it's controversial adult and violent theme and the freedom to do whatever you like: Be it the missions or just mass slaughtering on a whim.

GTA is an open world free roaming game with a 2D top down view, an automatic zoom in (and out). Originally made in London (believe it or not) before being sold to Rockstar Studios.

Going back to the game after all these years was fun and enjoyable, however, I found it took me a long time to get used to the game style with the swaying screen while driving at high speed. The graphics, well honestly... They're atrocious but to hell with it! The game play more than makes up for 1997 pixel models!!

First off you have to choose your character, there are 5 to choose from. The Saga start's with a simple threat of "You mess up, We mess you up"

You start off on the side of the street, just around the corner from 4 payphones. This is your first line of work. you take the parked car and drive to the payphones that are ringing. They are marked by the yellow arrows. You also have the option of pay and spraying "Hot" cars and side missions from abandoned vehicles throughout the city.

The four phones you start with allow you four jobs, try not to screw the jobs up because work is hard to find after them (I stuffed 2 of the 4).

The aim is to complete missions and to meet the target score. Your first target score is 1 million. then you will be able to move to the next sector of the game. How you get there is entirely upto you! Keep your eyes open for the Monks if you want points (I know... Monks? O_o, we won't be talking about this.) wink

a quote taken from the official site for the game describes the style in such a manner you have to laugh: "President of the Tourist Board, told us 'Vice City' has a deservedly bad reputation as a very dangerous city, but as long as visitors stay out of the downtown area, only go out in daylight hours and never leave their car, they stand a very good chance of survival"

When GTA came out in 1997 it was like no other game, in a more recent light you'd compare it to the likes of when the Wii came out compared to the PS3/Xbox360, and how it stood out on it's own. This was what GTA was like back then (only with bloody violence as its niche, as opposed to happy family bouncey time on the Wii). No one had experienced a game of this nature before and (for sure) it pushed and tested many of the industries boundaries. Looking forward to GTAV coming out later this year!
