Random Cartoon - Transformers the Movie

Every now and again I'll pull this out and relive one of the moments in my life I cried like a baby (granted, I was only 8 years old when it happened). Optimus Prime dying was a huge deal for me and my friends. I had already suffered the death of Roy Fokker in Robotech earlier that year...Now Optimus...I was genuinely concerned for Lion-O and for He-Man.  My Mom convinced me that I should write a letter to each of them and warn them that Optimus Prime had passed away for them to be very (very) careful... Which I did. Childhood is a very special time for our impressionable and fragile minds. Sometimes cartoon and anime heroes inspire a lot in us that most have no idea is there.  So my random cartoon of the night is Transformers: The Movie.  The 20th Anniversary Edition is excellent with a great amount of features. Of course we all want to hear the cheesy music, like "[You've Got] The Touch" from Stan Bush

But overall it's one of those films many of us grew up on and can constantly relive every so often that we pll it off the shelf.

Random Cartoon: Inspector Gadget

dun-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh, In-Spec-Tor Gad-get, dun-nuh-nuh, Whooo hooo!!! It may have had a godawful theme song, but at least it was memorable. I loved Inspector Gadget. I love Inspector Gadget for the sheer number of gadgets and gizmos that seem to extend out of his body. It didn't matter that he never knew if they would work or not. Cyborgs were cool! Even the ones that are wholly dependant on a human niece named Penny and the dog named Brain!  It always reminded me of the Pink Panther's Inspector Clouseu and his particular brand of idiocy: So stupid that he is actually brilliant. Plus the running gags were my favorite, exploding self-destruct messages and the antagonist line "I'll get you next time, Gadget! Next time!". Happier memories of my childhood. Check out this series on Hulu if you wish to relive your past, too. Also, check the opening theme out:

Saturday Morning Bowl of Cereal and Chocolate Milk w/ M.A.S.K.

I remember watching this cartoon all the damn time...to me it was (as another internet blogger) aptly put "It was F'n GI JOE meets Transformers". By today's standards of course, absolutely cheese filled, but this is pure nostalgia. The toys were also quite awesome.  However I very rarely used the MASK drivers. I would pop my GI JOEs inside of these vehicles.  I have always been a huge Camaro enthusiast (I built 2 of them for myself over the years from the ground up) and the Camaro in this series drove me absolutely nuts.  It was a near perfect toy in my youth.

Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?

Am I the only one who actually remembers this show? I used to wake up early in the morning just to watch this. I loved the theme song, I loved Carmen Sandiego, I wanted to be Carmen Sandiego. This cartoon series was an interesting take on the game show and I loved this old cat and mouse chase. Enjoy the pursuit!

Random Sunday Morning (Cartoon Express) Awesomeness - Gobots - This is one of those cartoons I loved as a kid, one it caught my attention, because it was a clone of Transformers, as a Kid, I had no clue, I just knew...Awesome! More transforming Robots...I had all the toys, all the random accessories.  One particular episode resounds in my mind more than any other.  That's one in particular where one of the principal characters "Turbo" is nearly killed (or pretty much destroyed) and he is brought back to life by someone believed to be the maker.  Turns out to be a mad scientist.

While this show never had the impact Transformers or other series of it's kind had (Robotech if you want to lump in transforming craft, although not at all the same).  It was still a series we could all remember and love from those Saturday and Sunday morning cartoons.
